Won a Fuel Belt!

So excited – I participated in Moms Run This Town 1 Year Anniversary giveaway and I won a Fuel Belt – very exciting! I will definitely be using it as the days get hotter here in South Florida.

Last night I was getting settled to log onto Facebook when my husband asked me to feed our new puppy Teddy. Well Teddy likes to be hand fed, so I had to sit there for a few minutes and feed him. When I finally got onto FB – Clif Bar had given away two entries to the Expedition Everest Challenge – I was 7 minutes too late. I waited just a bit too long to register and the event filled up, so this would have been an awesome way for me to do the challenge – guess it just wasn’t meant to be. Another thing that seems not meant to be – no picture from the MB Corp Run! I sat at the computer last night for 2 hours hoping to find a picture of me and nada.

Will talk to my friend Moni to see what our next 5K race is. In the meantime, I will try to get dinner out of the way early tonight so that I can take a quick run around the neighborhood.

Waiting for the race to begin

Thursday, 3/29 I ran my second 5K – the Mercedes Benz Corporate Run. This event had over 5,000 participants. It was held in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, so getting in and out was a little bit of a headache. I used to work there and just during normal business traffic is crazy – add another 5,000 people – well it was just crazy! I was supposed to run with my husband and daughter – but on the way to the race my daughter fell asleep and she just wasn’t up for it after her nap. So I ran alone.

I was at the very end of the pack so for the first 12 minutes I just walked in a mob of people. After crossing the New River it opened up and I was able to run a little. I hadn’t even taken my headphones – thinking I would be with my family, but it was still fun listening the race chatter.

Next week I will coordinate with Monica to see when we will do our next 5K. In the meantime, I will continue to spend more time running outside and using the gym at lunchtime to do cardio.

The Beginning

Have been thinking about my very first post and think today is the day. I think I will be changing the name to Manhattan in Florida, but for now this will do. I am a native New Yorker who was transferred to Florida and think this is home now. Although I miss NY terribly and dream about going home almost every day – my children consider this home, so here is where we will stay.

Couple of exciting things to report. I did my first 5K on Sunday, March 25, 2012 for Kendra’s Kisses. My official time was 45:39.4 and I was 6th in my age group. I ran with my friend Monica – we talked the entire time, I think if we hadn’t talked, we could have easily shaved 3 minutes off our time.

Other exciting news – I was selected to host a Keurig Vue Houseparty! I LOVE Houseparty and have wanted a Keurig for a while now – can’t wait to try the new Vue out!

I think this will be it for today. Have my second 5K tonight – the Mercedes Benz Corporate Run which I will be doing with my husband and daughter – don’t know if I will run or walk – but look forward to having a fun time!
